TURKISH MINISTER OF ISLAMOFASCIST AKP PARTY: HOMOSEXUALITY IS A DISEASE

March 12, 2010

Aliye Kavaf, cabinet minister responsible for women and family affairs from the Islamofascist AKP party ruling Turkey, said on an interview with the Turkish daily Hürriyet “I believe that homosexuality is a biological disorder, a disease. In my opinion, it needs to be treated.” For this reason, she added, she does not look positively upon gay marriages.

“We currently have no work on them (homosexuals) in our Ministry. There is no such request anyways. We cannot say that there are no homosexuals in Turkey, there are such cases.” she said. This way of thinking is typical of the leaders and supporters of the AKP party which has been ruling Turkey for the last 8 years. AKP, a fundamentalist, authoritarian Islamic party, has been trying to establish Islamic rule in secular Turkey, appearing on the surface to advocate democracy and human rights and thus garnering sympathy from the EU and the US. In reality, AKP is pro-democracy so long as it assures the rights of fundamentalist Islamists only. When it comes to gay rights, women’s rights or simply, freedom of expression, AKP is as democratic as the NSADP was.

The minister’s comments do not deserve any criticism. I will not argue about human rights with a sick, fundamentalist brain, however, I hereby condemn those bigots in the American and the European press who portray AKP as a beacon of democracy in Turkey. AKP is the destruction of democracy and human rights in Turkey.  Please protest by sending an email to AKP’s leader/dictator Erdogan to condemn his cabinet’s anti-gay actions at the following address:  rte@akparti.org.tr

  1. This way of thinking is straight from the middle ages. Unfortunately, there are plenty of Republicans in the U.S. that think the same way.
