Over the course of sometime they have gotten richer and richer and became financially powerful. Today there are powerful Islamic banks in Turkey which were absent ten years ago. Also I don'^t agree that EU and USA are naive. They don't want a powerful secular state in Turkey that can set an example to Islamic world. They prefer these countries be in deep sh*t and never become developed.
